Midnight Sun Mining Corp (TSX-V:MMA, OTCQB:MDNGF) has completed the first phase of a 56 line-kilometre induced polarization (IP) survey on the Dumbwa Target at its Solwezi Project in Zambia, paving the way for a diamond drilling program expected to begin in two weeks.
The survey covered 11.5 kilometres of strike length over the southern portion of the north-south trending Dumbwa copper anomaly, using 500 to 250 metre east-west line spacings.
Results from the geophysical program have confirmed strong correlations between the IP data and previously drill-identified mineralization, the firm said in a statement.
"The results have exceeded expectations," said Kevin Bonel, Midnight Sun’s chief operating officer. "We are now well positioned to advance to the drilling stage, where we aim to validate our interpretations and further unlock the potential of this highly prospective copper target."
The company said the IP data offered its technical team a first-time visual interpretation of the mineralized horizons at Dumbwa, revealing complex structural features including flat-lying beds, gentle slopes, and evidence of folding. The survey also highlighted several cross-cutting structures that help explain inconsistencies between earlier soil geochemistry and drill data.
The information gained from the survey will guide drill placement for the upcoming program, which will target the southern 11.5-kilometre section of the Dumbwa trend.
