Prescient Therapeutics Ltd CEO James McDonnell talked with Proactive about the company’s latest milestone — the launch of its first clinical trial site for PTX-100 in the United States. The site, located at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Cancer Center, marks a significant expansion for the company beyond its existing sites in Australia.
McDonnell highlighted that the rare nature of the disease being treated means that access to large patient populations is crucial.
The VCU site is also notable due to its direct connection with the scientific founder of PTX-100, who developed the compound and is now seeing it enter clinical trials. Prescient has already enrolled four patients in Australia and is aiming to hit a 20-patient milestone, at which point dose optimization data will be reviewed.
Looking ahead, the company expects further milestones including site openings in France and Italy, and a submission for orphan drug designation in the EU.
