Lumos Diagnostics Ltd CEO Doug Ward talked with Proactive about the company’s exclusive US distribution agreement for FebriDx® with PHASE Scientific International Limited (PHASE Scientific).
The deal, valued at approximately $317.00 million over six years, marks the most significant commercial agreement in Lumos' history. Under the terms, PHASE Scientific will distribute FebriDx® exclusively across the US market.
Ward explained the strategic reasoning behind selecting PHASE Scientific, citing their in-depth knowledge of the US point-of-care diagnostics space and the company’s drive to succeed in the sector. “They’re a smaller organisation… I love that grit and determination for success,” Ward said.
He outlined that FebriDx® is a rapid, drop-of-blood test that helps determine whether a respiratory infection is bacterial or non-bacterial. The distinction is crucial for appropriate antibiotic use and represents a major clinical benefit. Ward described it as a “one of a kind test,” and noted its access to a respiratory testing market worth over $1 billion in the US.
