Ilika PLC (AIM:IKA, OTCQX:ILIKF) has secured a new £1.25 million government grant to advance the industrial production of its Goliath solid-state batteries for automotive use.
The funding comes from the UK’s DRIVE35 programme, part of the Advanced Propulsion Centre’s Demonstrate fund, and supports a 12-month project starting August 2025.
Ilika will partner with manufacturing consultancy HSSMI and use the electrode production lines at the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre.
This project, called PRIMED, builds on previous work under the Faraday Battery Challenge and the Automotive Transformation Fund. Ilika aims to produce and test 50 ampere-hour battery samples, progressing towards full industrialisation.
HSSMI will create a production scale model and business case to support scaling to gigafactory levels.
Ilika’s chief executive, Graeme Purdy, said: "Working with HSSMI will allow us to digitally twin giga-scale production, which will be of paramount interest to our potential licensees.
"The next 12 months promise to be fast-paced and transformational for Goliath and Ilika."
