West Wits strengthens board to support transition into operational phase

West Wits Mining Ltd (ASX:WWI, OTCQB:WMWWF) has announced a strategic refresh of its board as the company advances its operational activities at the Qala Shallows gold project in South Africa. Key changes include the appointment of current chief executive officer Rudi Deysel as managing director, and the addition of experienced mining executive Keith Middleton as non-executive director.

Long-serving director Hulme Scholes has stepped down after 14 years of service.

The updated board is expected to bring enhanced leadership and governance expertise as West Wits progresses its Witwatersrand Basin Project from planning into production.

Managing Director appointment reflects operational focus

Rudi Deysel, who has led the company as CEO for over four years, will formally join the board as managing director following regulatory approval.

Deysel is credited with advancing the Qala Shallows asset from exploration to an operating gold project. His appointment comes as the company looks to unlock further value from its 5.025-million-ounce gold resource in the Witwatersrand Basin.

Keith Middleton joins as non-executive director

Keith Middleton, who has provided consultancy support to West Wits for over two years, brings a wealth of experience from the ASX small-cap mining sector. His previous roles include managing director of American Rare Earths Ltd and directorships in multiple mining-focused entities. His appointment is expected to bolster West Wits’ corporate and strategic capabilities as it executes development plans.

Departure of long-serving director Hulme Scholes

Hulme Scholes has retired from the board after playing a pivotal role in guiding the company through regulatory approvals. He was instrumental in securing the Mining Right and associated permits for Qala Shallows. With West Wits now transitioning to production, Scholes has stepped down, having fulfilled a key part of the company’s development journey.
