Surefire Resources NL (ASX:SRN) has provided a positive update on its ongoing reverse circulation (RC) drilling campaign at the Yidby Gold Project, with the company completing a total of 27 drill holes for approximately 3,651 metres to date.
The drilling focus has centred on the Yidby prospect, where new zones of sulphide mineralisation in quartz porphyry have been identified, further expanding the potential of the emerging gold system.
Key drilling developments
The recent drill program has been progressing without delays, with a focus on expanding and infilling the main gold zone at Yidby. Drilling has now intersected extensive sulphide mineralisation, highlighting the project's growing potential.

The most recent drilling efforts also include the completion of the Marshall and Fender prospects, which have provided valuable geological insights, helping to refine the understanding of mineralisation trends and further guide the next stages of exploration.
The drill rig is currently finishing up work at the Yidby main zone and is scheduled to move onto the Money Anomaly, located 1.5 kilometres to the south. This area, identified as highly prospective due to anomalous gold soil geochemistry, will be the next focus of Surefire’s exploration efforts.

A total of 564 samples have been submitted to the laboratory for fire-assay, with more samples expected to be sent in the coming days. The company anticipates the assay results will provide further clarity on the potential of the Yidby gold system.
Strategic positioning in a gold-rich region
The Yidby Gold Project is strategically located within a highly prospective greenstone belt, with the Capricorn Metals Mt Gibson deposit, which contains 3.9 million ounces of gold, situated just 30 kilometres to the south.

This proximity to major multi-million-ounce gold deposits is a significant factor in the growing confidence surrounding Yidby’s potential. Capricorn Metals has also been expanding its tenure in the region, further highlighting the attractiveness of the area.

The Yidby gold system now extends for over 900 metres of strike length, and Surefire’s team believes there is potential for the system to expand at depth, with high-grade zones anticipated within the overall shear-porphyry system. The drilling program has been designed to test extensions and infill the main gold zones at Yidby, with the goal of confirming the continuity and strength of the mineralisation.
Next steps and future updates
Managing director Paul Burton said it was “highly encouraging” that the company how has a substantial number of sulphide intersections.
“Drilling progress continues with very good meterage per day,” he said. “We expect assays within the coming days, and I look forward to providing further updates and laboratory assay results as they are received.”
With further drilling at the Money Anomaly planned, Surefire Resources is positioning itself for continued success in a promising gold region, as the company looks to unlock the full potential of the Yidby Gold Project.
