Commercial supply agreement
A new commercial supply agreement with North American battery manufacturer Electrovaya gives Janus access to UL-rated lithium-ion battery packs with global applicability across North American, European, and Australian markets. Forsyth said the battery technology offers a 16% increase in usable energy capacity and reduces weight by approximately 500 kilograms.
This weight reduction significantly increases vehicle payload and operational efficiency. Forsyth told investors the new battery packs have a six-year warranty with 8,000 charge cycles. The current standard is 5,000 cycles. The technology also supports a 14,000-cycle life, extending asset lifespans to between 20 to 23 years — a substantial improvement from the company’s current 8 to 9-year baseline.
Scaling capabilities
Forsyth said the partnership also enables Janus to scale its manufacturing capabilities without needing to expand internal production lines. He highlighted Electrovaya’s experience in battery manufacturing, including its existing supply arrangements with Toyota Materials Handling and Raymond forklifts.
The supply agreement forms part of a broader strategy to accelerate growth following the company's recent ASX listing. Forsyth described the partnership as fulfilling a strategic objective to secure a world-class battery provider.
What's next
Looking ahead, Janus expects growth in both on-road truck deployments and firm orders. Several project decisions are anticipated within the next six to eight weeks, which the company said could lead to an influx of new business.
In addition, Forsyth confirmed the company is beginning production of its Flex JCM unit. He said this model delivers a further 300-kilogram weight saving and offers improved manufacturing efficiency, which will support margin growth in the vehicle conversion business.
