Sonoro Gold Corp (TSX-V:SGO, OTCQB:SMOFF) said on Wednesday it has submitted a revised Environmental Impact Statement, or Manifestacion de Impacto Ambiental (MIA), for its Cerro Caliche gold project in Mexico, to the federal environmental authorities.
The revised MIA, initially submitted in February 2025, updates a previous application filed in May 2022 and includes improvements to the mine plan, as well as additional environmental and socio-economic studies aimed at optimizing the project's footprint and reinforcing its environmental and community commitments.
The MIA outlines plans for an open-pit, heap leach mining operation, including associated infrastructure such as waste dumps, crushing facilities, leach pads, ponds, and recovery facilities, as detailed in the company’s preliminary economic assessment released in August 2023.
“The MIA permitting process for the Cerro Caliche project has involved years of extensive technical and environmental studies,” Sonoro CEO Kenneth MacLeod said in a statement.
“These ongoing assessments are carried out not only to ensure the project is meeting Mexico’s strict environmental requirements, but they also reflect Sonoro’s commitment to the local community.”
Sonoro holds 100% of the concession rights for Cerro Caliche and secured full surface rights to the project area.
