Black Swan Graphene (TSX-V:SWAN) announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted it a patent covering its proprietary method for continuous production of high-quality sub-micron graphene and similar two-dimensional materials.
The process is designed to enable efficient, scalable, and cost-effective production of graphene for use in applications such as polymers, concrete, energy storage, and electronics.
According to Black Swan, the patented method strengthens its intellectual property portfolio and enhances its commercial capabilities by supporting the large-scale production of graphene materials intended for high-volume markets.
"This patent demonstrates a commitment for Black Swan, securing our leadership in the scalable production of graphene materials,” Black Swan CEO Simon Marcotte said in a statement.
“It underscores our commitment to innovation, IP protection, and delivering industrial-scale solutions to meet the growing global demand for advanced materials.”
The patent will remain in effect for 20 years from the initial filing date, with an additional 771 days of protection, extending its enforceability through January 5, 2039.
The company stated that maintenance fees will be paid in accordance with USPTO requirements to preserve the patent’s validity.
Shares of Black Swan Graphene added almost 6% on Wednesday morning on the update.
