The S&P/ASX 200 retreated on Wednesday, shedding 52.10 points or 0.61% to close at 8,538.60 — falling below its 20-day moving average in the process. The S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries Index (ASX: XSO), which tracks smaller capitalisation companies, also ended lower, dropping 26.40 points or 0.81% to 3,231.20.
