WeightWatchers reboots with focus on medical weight-loss and menopause care

Weight Watchers International (NASDAQ:WW) has emerged from bankruptcy with a renewed strategy, aiming to combine medical weight-loss treatments with long-term lifestyle support.

The company cleared over $1.15 billion of debt, more than 70% of its total, through a US court restructuring process, strengthening its financial position.

Now under a refreshed leadership team, the group is shifting its focus to reflect changes in the weight-loss market, where demand for prescription jabs like Wegovy and Mounjaro is booming.

It has appointed Dr Kim Boyd as chief medical officer to lead the integration of clinical approaches with WeightWatchers’ behaviour-based programmes.

New offerings include a menopause-specific programme launching later this year, designed to support women through hormonal changes with tailored nutrition and lifestyle tools.

A recent UK partnership with CheqUp, an anti-obesity drug provider, aims to offer app-based support to patients on medication. CEO Tara Comonte called the overhaul a “pivotal moment” in the company’s transformation.
