Askari Metals Ltd executive director Gino D'Anna talked with Proactive about the company’s acquisition of the Nejo Gold Project in central-western Ethiopia, marking a major step in expanding its African exploration footprint.
D'Anna explained that the Nejo Project is located within the Arabian-Nubian Shield, a prolific geological region known for hosting multi-million ounce gold deposits. He described Ethiopia as a significantly underexplored jurisdiction and noted that the project area presents a “district-scale exploration opportunity,” covering more than 1,200 square kilometres.
A key advantage is Nejo’s proximity to existing large-scale operations such as the 1.7 million ounce Tulu Kapi mine. D’Anna said, “We benefit not only from the historic exploration… but also the fact that we surround the Tulu Kapi mine.” Askari aims to move quickly toward defining a maiden Mineral Resource Estimate, with extensive trenching, sampling and confirmatory drilling to come.
D'Anna also highlighted the company’s commitment to establishing a strong, locally integrated presence in Ethiopia, with in-country personnel already in place. “We already have the local framework, the local team in Ethiopia as it stands,” he said.
Looking ahead, shareholders can expect a steady stream of updates as the company compiles historic data and progresses toward exploration milestones.
