The Smarter Web Company boosts Bitcoin holdings after sharp treasury gains

The Smarter Web Company (AQSE:SWC) has increased its Bitcoin holdings to 1,000 after purchasing a further 226 coins, citing strong returns from its digital asset strategy.

The London-listed tech group, which trades on the Aquis Exchange, said the move forms part of its “10-Year Plan” to build long-term value through Bitcoin accumulation.

The latest purchase cost £17.9 million, with an average price of just under £79,000 per coin. It brings the total spent on Bitcoin so far to just over £78 million, with an average acquisition cost of £78,228 per coin.

The company’s decision comes on the back of what it described as “exceptional” returns from its treasury so far this year.

It reported a year-to-date yield of 26,242% from its Bitcoin holdings, alongside a 30-day yield of 530%.

While those figures reflect the volatile and often rapid gains typical of digital assets, they highlight how the company has positioned itself as a corporate backer of Bitcoin.

Smarter Web said it still holds approximately £42.3 million in net cash available for further Bitcoin purchases. The firm has also updated its investor presentation to reflect its latest position and treasury strategy.

The company's Bitcoin approach places it among a growing cohort of smaller listed firms using cryptocurrency as part of their capital allocation policy, often citing long-term inflation hedging or belief in digital asset adoption.

However, the strategy also comes with significant risk, given the price volatility of Bitcoin and the regulatory uncertainties surrounding its use in corporate treasuries.
