Cel AI rises 12.5% after it snaps up $678k in Bitcoin to boost treasury play

Shares in Cel AI PLC (LSE:CLAI), the London-listed AI platform, rose 12.5% after it said it has added over $678,000 worth of Bitcoin to its balance sheet as part of its treasury diversification strategy.

The company said on Friday it acquired 6.18 Bitcoin at an average price of just under $110,000 apiece, using funds from an early advance tied to its planned £10mn fundraising.

The purchase forms part of Cel’s dual-track business model—combining revenue from AI agent deployment with a growing store of digital assets.

Executive chair Olivia Edwards said the move reflected “our conviction in both the long-term potential of Bitcoin and our ability to execute on our dual-engine model”.

Cel said it views Bitcoin as a hedge against currency debasement and a long-term reserve asset, citing growing institutional acceptance of digital assets.

The company plans to follow a dollar-cost averaging approach to manage market volatility.

The shares rose 0.04p to 0.36p.
