Paramount settles Trump lawsuit over edited Harris interview for $16m

Paramount Global has agreed to a $16 million settlement with Donald Trump over a lawsuit alleging CBS’s 60 Minutes misrepresented Kamala Harris in edited interview footage aired in 2020.

Trump claimed the broadcast misled voters and sought $20 billion in damages. While he receives no direct payment, funds will support a future presidential library.

The agreement includes CBS releasing full transcripts of future interviews with presidential candidates, but no apology.

The case arrives as Paramount seeks regulatory approval for its proposed merger with Skydance Media.

Critics suggest the settlement reflects broader efforts by media firms to avoid conflict with Trump ahead of the 2024 election.

CBS maintains the edits were standard practice for time constraints.

This is one of several legal settlements Trump has recently reached with media organisations, including ABC and Meta.
