Citi flags potential catalysts for Goodman Group amid data centre expansion

Citi analyst Howard Penny has placed Goodman Group (ASX:GMG) on a 90-day "upside catalyst watch", citing multiple triggers that could drive the company’s share price higher in the near term.

Penny anticipates meaningful updates during the company’s August reporting period, particularly around its data centre development pipeline. According to the analyst, Goodman is well positioned to announce further growth in its underlying data centre plans, bolstered by capital partnerships that could support large-scale developments.

“We anticipate the Goodman August results period to include potential positive catalysts including further growth in underlying data centre pipeline which is supported by our deep research into NSW planning submissions; and strong potential for further progress in capital partnerships around development,” Penny said.

Analysis of New South Wales planning submissions revealed over 470 megawatts (MW) of potential Goodman data centre developments — far exceeding the 90 MW disclosed to date.

Penny also expects strong momentum across Goodman’s broader 5-gigawatt (GW) global data centre pipeline. He believes the company is increasingly likely to secure financing partnerships, underpinned by its proven execution capabilities, strong investor return profile, strategic data centre locations and established relationships with major global capital providers.
