Jim Piper and Adam Wood have joined Orthocell Ltd (ASX:OCC, OTC:ORHHF)'s leadership team as chief financial officer (CFO) and chief commercial officer (CCO) respectively. The pair will help OCC accelerate its international growth and join the company as it ramps up product sales and market engagement, particularly in the United States. OCC is looking to position its flagship nerve repair device Remplir™ in a global market estimated at over US$3.5 billion.
The strengthened executive team is expected to play a pivotal role in executing Orthocell’s commercialisation strategy, enhancing financial performance, and expanding its presence across key international markets.
Piper succeeds Nicole Telford, who racked up more than 15 years at Orthocell. Telford played a critical role in building the company’s finance capabilities, serving in progressive leadership roles. She will remain on as an advisor for six months to support the leadership transition.
“I would like to acknowledge and thank Nicole Telford for her commitment and contributions over the last 15 years. She has been a highly valued member of our team, as we grew from humble beginnings, and leaves as a deeply valued Orthocell ally. We wish her all the very best,” Orthocell chairman John Van Der Wielen said.
“I am also excited to welcome our two new executives, Jim Piper as chief financial officer and Adam Wood to the newly created role of chief commercial officer. They both bring outstanding experience to the company which will be invaluable as we extend the commercialisation of our products, particularly Remplir™ in the US.”
Jim Piper joins as CFO
Piper brings a wealth of experience in financial leadership, with a strong background in strategic finance and operations across high-growth and ASX-listed entities. His appointment is effective from August 1, and he will manage Orthocell’s financial performance, investor relations, procurement, and IT operations.
Previously, Piper held senior finance roles at Pilbara Minerals Ltd, where he led corporate financial planning and modelling, and was part of Accenture’s CFO Strategy and Consulting practice, advising clients on performance optimisation and financial transformation. A former elite swimmer, Piper represented Australia at the 2004 Athens Olympics and won double gold at the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
Adam Wood appointed CCO
Wood steps into the newly created role of CCO to lead Orthocell’s global sales and marketing initiatives, with a focus on the United States. He will drive the commercialisation of the company’s regenerative medicine portfolio and support global rollout strategies.
Wood brings deep expertise in healthcare and medtech marketing and sales. He has held senior roles at Johnson & Johnson, LifeHealthcare and most recently EBOS Medical Technology, where he led brand strategy and business development. At LifeHealthcare, Wood helped deliver a fourfold increase in EBITDA over four years, while improving team engagement metrics.
His commercial acumen and leadership experience are expected to bolster Orthocell’s growth trajectory and ensure effective market penetration of key products including Remplir™ and other platform technologies.
Orthocell continues to go from strength to strength, having just reported record quarterly revenue of A$2.73 million for the June 2025 quarter, representing a 22.8% increase on the previous March quarter.
This marks Orthocell’s fifth consecutive quarter of record revenue.
The result was underpinned by growing demand for the company’s flagship nerve repair device, Remplir™, in the Australian market, with further growth anticipated as US uptake begins.
