Krakatoa Resources raises $357,000 in top-up placement to advance Zopkhito project

Krakatoa Resources Ltd (ASX:KTA) has secured a further $357,000 through a top-up placement of 34 million ordinary shares, bringing the total amount raised in its combined placement to about $1.66 million.

The additional funds will support the company’s ongoing efforts to fast-track exploration at its Zopkhito Antimony-Gold Project in Georgia, with a focus on expanding its drilling program.

Placement details

The top-up placement follows Krakatoa’s earlier placement of $1.3 million, announced on June 18, bringing the total capital raised to $1.66 million. The shares will be issued at a price of 1.05 cents per share.

Subject to shareholder approval, each investor in the top-up placement will also receive one unquoted attaching option for every two shares acquired, with an exercise price of 2 cents and an expiry date of September 30, 2026.

The combined placement will be allocated across several stages. The first allotment of 97.2 million shares occurred on June 26, with 38.8 million shares issued today. The remaining 19 million shares are expected to be issued by July 7.

The placement will also incur a 6% capital raising fee.

Zopkhito Antimony-Gold Project

The funds raised from the placement will be directed towards advancing the Zopkhito Project, which spans 1,779 hectares in the Racha region of Georgia.

Krakatoa’s exploration activities at Zopkhito are centred around its antimony and gold prospects, seen as highly valuable due to the importance of these materials in modern manufacturing processes. The project’s location in Georgia, which boasts investor-friendly conditions and robust trade agreements with key global markets, further enhances its appeal as a base for strategic resource extraction.

The project is near infrastructure, including rail links to ports on the Black Sea. This positions the Zopkhito Project as a potentially valuable asset, especially in light of the growing demand for antimony, a critical metal used in a range of industrial and military applications, such as in solar panel production, car batteries, and electronics.

Strategic context

Krakatoa’s latest funding round supports its focus on high-value, critical metals like antimony, driven by rising global demand. The Zopkhito Project is poised to unlock significant potential for large-scale antimony-gold production, with drilling programs planned to define the resource further.

The positive investment climate in Georgia, coupled with the country’s robust trade agreements and economic growth, strengthens Krakatoa’s position as it develops its assets in this attractive location.

With the funds raised, the company is now focused on advancing drilling at Zopkhito to enhance resource delineation and move towards development, aiming to unlock value through both its existing assets and ongoing exploration.
