IG Group senior market analyst Farah Mourad talked with Proactive about Bitcoin’s resilience amid easing geopolitical tensions and subdued gold performance. Mourad shared her expert insights on why Bitcoin has remained buoyant, noting that “it’s survived pretty well” during recent global uncertainty, outperforming both gold and traditional hig, h-risk assets.
She explained that institutional flows, ETF momentum, and interest rate expectations are the main drivers, not retail panic or geopolitical headlines. Mourad also highlighted growing adoption trends, pointing out that in the UAE, stablecoins are now accepted for taxis and real estate, and that a “pro-crypto wave” is building globally.
Discussing Bitcoin’s valuation, Mourad acknowledged the challenge of applying traditional valuation models, but cited blockchain activity and production costs as indicators that suggest a fair value range between $80,000 and $100,000. She further stated that “seeing Bitcoin above $150,000 is not far-fetched,” citing macroeconomic tailwinds and major institutional engagement.
She also pointed to a drop in transaction volume but a sharp increase in transaction value, with 90% of trades now over $100,000 — an indication that large players are influencing market momentum.
