Animoca's Moca Foundation unveils Moca Chain to decentralise identity and user data verification

Animoca Brands Corporation Ltd's flagship project The Moca Foundation has announced plans to launch Moca Chain, a new Layer 1 blockchain purpose-built for decentralised identity and user data verification. Designed to return control of digital credentials to individuals, devices, and AI agents, Moca Chain will operate as a modular, Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible chain that facilitates privacy-preserving identity across platforms and industries.

Moca Chain’s testnet and mainnet are scheduled for release in the third and fourth quarters of 2025, respectively. It will support identity protocols across healthcare, recruitment, finance, and advertising, while offering verified cross-chain identity through tools such as a decentralised storage system, zero-knowledge TLS proofing (zkTLS), and an interoperable oracle.

The MOCA Coin will underpin the network’s core functions, serving as the utility token for gas, staking, data generation and verification activities.

“Moca Chain seeks to solve [centralisation] by giving users decentralised true ownership of their data, ensuring the sovereignty of users’ digital identity without a single point of failure,” Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, said.

Tandem work

Moca Chain will work in tandem with AIR Kit, Moca Network’s identity and reputation SDK, to enable secure, verifiable smart accounts. Protocols can use Moca Chain to issue reusable credentials via zero-knowledge proofs, enabling user-driven data monetisation and authentication without reliance on centralised APIs.

“By adopting Moca Chain and MOCA Coin, we believe we can disrupt current models of data ownership... returning value to the users who generate it,” Kenneth Shek, project lead at Moca Network, said.

Moca Network is already integrated into major Web2 applications, reaching more than 700 million users globally through platforms such as OK Cashbag and One Football. These integrations position Moca Chain as a foundational layer for identity-driven ecosystems in Web3 and beyond.

About Moca Foundation

MOCA Foundation is the community-owned foundation that supports the development, adoption, and sustainable growth of Moca Network and Moca Chain. Its mission is to empower unity and collaboration while driving innovation in decentralised governance, culture, and growth.

MOCA Foundation seeks to drive the development of the largest interoperable cultural economy in the Web3 space, powered by the MOCA Coin utility and governance token. MOCA Foundation is governed by Moca DAO, where participants co-create improvement proposals and engage in cross-DAO empowerment through unique delegation models.
