Synchronoss Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:SNCR) announced that it has achieved certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF), a transatlantic data transfer mechanism administered by the US Department of Commerce.
The certification enables US-based companies to process personal data from the European Union in compliance with the region’s privacy regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation.
The framework includes legally enforceable safeguards, redress mechanisms, and oversight provisions to ensure the secure transfer of data outside the EU.
According to Synchronoss, the certification supports its ability to manage both human resources and non-HR data across borders. The company provides personal cloud platforms to telecommunications operators globally and said the certification affirms its data handling practices in line with European privacy expectations.
“Privacy and data protection are foundational to our mission as a white label cloud provider,” Synchronoss CEO Jeff Miller said in a statement.
“Achieving DPF certification builds on our global compliance framework and reinforces our promise to deliver secure, scalable, and consumer-friendly cloud solutions that meet the highest standards of trust.”
Mark Denihan, Synchronoss' chief privacy officer, added that the certification reflects more than a regulatory alignment but demonstrates the company’s dedication to responsible data governance.
“For our European partners, the Data Privacy Framework provides assurance that cross-border transfers of personal data are conducted with the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability, values that are a hallmark of Synchronoss’s global commitment to trusted data practices,” Denihan said.
In addition to the DPF certification, Synchronoss holds several other data security and privacy credentials.
