QBiotics Group CEO and managing director Stephen Doyle talked with Proactive about the final efficacy and safety data from the first stage of the company's Phase II clinical trial for Tigilanol tiglate in patients with soft tissue sarcoma.
Soft tissue sarcoma, a rare and increasingly prevalent cancer, is typically identified as a painless lump or tumour within soft tissues of the body. Doyle noted that in 2023, more than 128,000 cases were reported globally, with incidence growing at 0.54% per year.
In this update, Doyle shared encouraging outcomes from the trial, stating that “80% of those seeing the tumours shrink,” pointing to Tigilanol tiglate's potential as an effective treatment. He also addressed the complexity of treating soft tissue sarcomas, adding weight to the significance of the trial’s outcomes.
Looking ahead, Doyle highlighted ongoing development and further clinical studies in the pipeline, aimed at advancing Tigilanol tiglate not only for sarcomas but also for head and neck cancers in other regions. He underscored QBiotics’ strategic approach and multiple avenues of exploration for future treatment options.
