A newly signed agreement to supply 80 metric tonnes of expandable graphite to a leading United States-based graphite supply chain company gives Evion Group NL (ASX:EVG, OTC:EVIGF) its maiden US order.
The order is to be delivered over the coming months and is expected to generate approximately A$400,000 in revenue for Evion’s 50:50 joint venture (JV), Panthera Graphite, located near Pune, India.
This follows the JV’s first shipment in March 2025 and positions Evion as an emerging supplier to key international markets looking to diversify from Chinese sources. Negotiations are continuing for future supply agreements across the US, Europe and Asia.
“This shipment signals a broader shift in the global supply landscape, with growing demand from US industries for high-quality, non-Chinese sources of critical minerals like expandable graphite. Our Panthera Graphite facility has demonstrated its ability to deliver at scale, and we hope this is the first step in establishing a strong, long-term, strategic partnership with the US market,” Evion managing director David Round said.
“We believe this is likely to be the first of many future orders and we look forward to updating the market shortly around our planned, substantial growth and development plans in India.”
Strategic breakthrough in the US market
The maiden US order marks a strategic milestone for Evion, with its Panthera JV now actively supplying into one of the world’s largest industrial markets.
The US order reflects growing demand for secure and diverse sources of critical minerals, particularly in high-growth sectors such as aerospace, electric vehicles (EVs), military technology, energy storage and electronics.
Panthera Graphite: operational success in India
Panthera Graphite Technologies, a 50:50 JV with India’s Metachem Manufacturing Co, has been operating since Q4 2024.
The facility is strategically located in a Special Economic Zone near Pune, providing proximity to vital transport infrastructure. It completed its first shipment in March 2025 and continues to ramp up capacity.
The JV is building credibility as a scalable, reliable producer of expandable graphite and aims to support long-term global demand.
Broader strategy and future outlook
Evion’s supply to the US is part of a broader growth strategy spanning Madagascar, India and Europe.
In Madagascar, the flagship Maniry Project holds the potential to produce 60,000 tonnes of graphite concentrate annually for 21 years, with a pre-tax net present value (NPV) of US$263 million.
Plans are underway to channel fine flake graphite from Maniry into a battery anode material project in Germany with a proposed 30,000 tonne per annum capacity.
