Ocado Group PLC (LSE:OCDO) has won a contract extension with grocer Bon Preu in the Spanish region of Catalonia.
Under the expanded contract, the FTSE 250 group will help construct a delivery warehouse – or customer fulfilment centre (CFC) as it calls them – in Parets del Vallès, just north of Barcelona.
Previously, Bon Preu has been using Ocado's in-store fulfilment technology, with the contract signed in 2017 being the UK company's first overseas customer.
"Our partnership with Bon Preu is an amazing example of a retailer using the full strategic toolkit that Ocado offers," said Gregor Ulitzka, Europe president for Ocado's Solutions division.
"They have already developed a market-leading online proposition in Catalonia with Ocado's in-store fulfilment technology and will now benefit from a highly automated CFC, offering an enhanced customer proposition and a significantly lower cost-to-serve."
