D3 Energy expands helium and hydrogen hunt into South Australia

D3 Energy expands helium and hydrogen hunt into South Australia

D3 Energy Ltd (ASX: D3E, OTCQB: DNRGF) has expanded its global exploration footprint with the acquisition of two highly prospective helium and hydrogen permits in South Australia’s Arckaringa Basin. Covering a combined 5,865 square kilometres, the permits—PEL 121 and PEL 122—were secured through the purchase of Unleash Energy Pty Ltd, marking a low-cost entry into one of Australia’s emerging clean energy corridors. The Arckaringa Basin remains relatively underexplored but shares geological similarities with the helium-rich Amadeus Basin to the north.

The company has already identified two early-stage prospects—Hydrohelix and Cootanoorina—with Hydrohelix considered drill-ready. Nine additional leads across PEL 121 have also been mapped, with plans underway for independent resource certification and a farmout process to attract joint venture funding.

This strategic acquisition diversifies D3 Energy’s portfolio beyond its core asset in South Africa’s Free State province and positions the company as a multi-jurisdictional helium and hydrogen explorer.

“This is an important next step… to become a significant player in the helium sector across the globe,” said managing director David Casey.
