Asian Battery Metals expands Yambat footprint with new ultramafic intrusion discovery

Asian Battery Metals PLC has extended the mineralised footprint of its Yambat Project in Mongolia after discovering a new ultramafic-gabbroic intrusion at the MS1 target, 6 kilometres southeast of the flagship Oval copper-nickel prospect.

Broader mineralised system

Managing director Gan-Ochir Zunduisuren said: “These early scout holes at MS1 and MS2 show we are onto a broader mineralised system.

“The discovery of new mafic-ultramafic intrusions at MS1 and MS2 — with mineralisation and EM conductors at MS1 — supports the view that Yambat is a district-scale system.

“These new targets could represent a parallel mineralised trend to Oval, offering multiple potential pipelines for discovery.

“We will continue EM surveys and planning of follow-up drilling to most efficiently unlock the potential of these regional targets.”

Initial scout drilling at MS1 intersected a thick ultramafic unit beneath 130 metres of sedimentary cover.

Drillhole SC07 returned weak sulphide mineralisation across an 86.2-metre interval, with disseminated chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite and pyrite observed from 168 metres depth.

A downhole electromagnetic (EM) survey subsequently identified a high-conductance plate east of the hole, prompting the expansion of a ground-based SAMSON EM survey across the MS1 area.

At the nearby MS2 target, scout drillhole SC06 encountered gabbroic rock bearing strong geological similarities to unmineralised zones at Oval.

Potential structural connection

The presence of spotted slate, consistent with contact metamorphism seen at Oval, suggests a potential structural connection, with further geophysical work, including magnetic and induced polarisation surveys, now planned.

The company has also progressed work at the Copper Ridge prospect, where previous drilling confirmed broad intervals of copper and gold mineralisation.

Follow-up holes CRS02 and CRS03 tested extensions but returned limited mineralisation, indicating further geophysical surveys are needed to refine drill targets.

Asian Battery Metals expects assay results from Phase 3 drilling later this month and will continue advancing metallurgical test work and geophysical programs across its district-scale Yambat portfolio.
