US-based AI firm Anthropic is stepping up its presence in Europe with plans to hire 100 staff across Dublin and London, aiming to fuel the continent's next wave of tech startups.
Speaking at Vivatech in Paris, Chief Product Officer Mike Krieger highlighted Europe’s strong talent pipeline and appetite for AI adoption, noting that many established firms, including luxury group LVMH, are actively integrating the technology.
Anthropic is positioning itself as a key partner for European businesses and innovators at a time when regional momentum is growing.
French startup Mistral recently announced a major deal with Nvidia to scale up local AI computing power, promising a tenfold increase within two years.
Krieger also emphasised Anthropic’s commitment to AI safety. The company has implemented Safety Level 3 for its Claude 4 Opus model and is working on even tighter controls. He said the firm aims to deliver "genius-level" AI with built-in protections, striking a balance between innovation and caution.
