Archer Aviation has raised $850 million in new funding following a series of executive orders by US President Donald Trump aimed at accelerating the development of electric air taxis and other advanced aviation technologies.
The funding follows an earlier $300 million round led by institutional investors, including BlackRock. Archer, which is building electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, is planning to launch an air taxi network in New York City through a partnership with United Airlines.
It has also been selected as the official air taxi provider for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Trump’s executive orders also included measures to strengthen national security against drone threats and support supersonic commercial flight development.
