Great Southern Copper jumps 6.5% on strong drill results in Chile

Shares in GGreat Southern Copper PLC (LSE:GSCU) rose 6.5% after the company reported high-grade copper and silver assay results from its Phase II drilling at the Cerro Negro project in Chile.

The latest drilling targeted areas below the historical Mostaza mine and extended mineralisation up to 500 metres south of known workings.

Headline results include 5 metres at 3.04% copper and 322.4 grams per tonne silver from 37 metres in drill hole CNG25-DD013, within a broader 13.9 metre zone grading 1.74% copper and 153.4 grams per tonne silver.

Another hole, CNG25-DD012, returned 3 metres at 3.43% copper and 164.7 grams per tonne silver from 24 metres depth.

Exploration holes DD010, DD012, and DD014 confirmed the presence of near-surface silver and suggest the potential for deeper high-grade copper-silver zones.

The company has begun geophysical surveys and early-stage petrography and metallurgical testing, with plans for a follow-up Phase III drill programme already underway.

The shares were up 0.22p at 3.62p.
