GTI Energy Ltd managing director Bruce Lane talked with Proactive about the company’s upcoming drill program at the Lo Herma ISR Uranium Project in Wyoming’s Southern Powder River Basin.
Lane outlined that GTI Energy is in the final stages of updating its existing drill permit to accommodate a revised exploration approach. The company is preparing to mobilise drill rigs during the US summer season, with the primary goals being to upgrade inferred resources to indicated and to grow the overall project size.
“What we were trying to do with this scoping study is demonstrate the baseline economics for the project,” Lane said. He added that the study results have increased confidence in the project’s direction, despite the inability to publish the study due to inferred resources limiting the publication of full financials and production targets.
The drilling campaign is expected to target both resource upgrades and exploration. GTI is aiming to lift its total resource to at least 10 million pounds, with over 50% in the indicated category, up from the current 30%.
Lane also discussed the broader US uranium market, noting the federal plan to build ten new reactors by 2030 could significantly boost domestic demand. He said, “We think it's the final shoe to drop on the demand story for uranium in the US.”
