Northern Superior Resources Inc. (TSX-V:SUP, OTCQX:NSUPF) has reported new drill results from its ongoing 20,000-meter program at the Philibert gold project in Quebec, which have further extended a recently identified high-grade discovery zone.
The latest intercepts include 21.6 metres grading 4.82 grams per ton (g/t) gold, with a higher-grade section of 7 metres at 11.86 g/t gold, and a separate interval of 22.2 metres at 2.09 g/t gold, including 10 metres at 3.54 g/t gold.
These results come from drilling conducted beneath and to the south of the current resource area and build on earlier findings that include 18 metres at 2.48 g/t gold, with 4.9 metres at 7.02 g/t gold.
Together, these holes now define a new high-grade zone extending approximately 200 metres along strike and over 150 metres vertically, situated outside the existing resource pit.
“Discovering high-grade mineralization with strong continuity and scale is always meaningful—but finding it directly beneath an open-pit resource adds significant strategic value,” Northern Superior CEO Simon Marcotte said in a statement.
“It opens the door to a phased development approach, potentially improving project economics and strengthening the long-term outlook. These results continue to reinforce our view that Philibert has the potential to become a long-life asset with substantial upside.”
Adree DeLazzer, Northern Superior's vice president of exploration, added that the results extend a discovery entirely outside the current open-pit resource envelope of 1.71 million ounces at 1.1 g/t gold Inferred and 279,000 ounces at 1.1 g/t Indicated.
“With three holes now outlining a 200-metre strike and over 150 metres of vertical continuity, we are seeing clear potential to expand the mineralization and define a significant underground resource base,” DeLazzer said.
“This area is quickly becoming a priority for future drilling, and our evolving geological and structural interpretation will be key in unlocking its full potential.”
Northern Superior holds a 75% interest in the Philibert project, located 9 kilometres from IAMGOLD’s Nelligan project and 60 kilometres southwest of Chibougamau. SOQUEM holds the remaining 25% interest.
Shares of Northern Superior added 9.1% in Toronto to reach C$0.84.
