Krakatoa Resources Ltd CEO Mark Major talked with Proactive about the commencement of the company’s maiden drilling campaign at the Zopkhito Sb-Au Project in Georgia. Preparations are well underway for a 7,000 to 10,000-metre diamond drilling program now that seasonal conditions have improved.
Major confirmed that Krakatoa is targeting extensions of the known mineralised system, stating, “Historically, it's only been where it's at surface. So, we want to continue and look at those extensions, just to see how big this thing could be.” The program will also include geophysical surveys and may incorporate additional drilling later in the season to test newly identified zones.
He emphasised the importance of confirming existing sampling results, which suggest high-grade mineralisation is present. The company aims to validate these findings and better understand the geological system and grade consistency.
Drilling will continue throughout the year, with Krakatoa potentially introducing a third rig depending on how operations progress. Alongside Zopkhito, the company is also preparing for drilling at its Mount Clere project in Western Australia, funded through the state’s Exploration Incentive Scheme. Major described this as “an exciting time” for the company.
