Lightning Minerals Ltd (ASX:L1M) has announced further progress at its Dundas Lithium Project in Western Australia, with its latest infill soil sampling program refining key areas for exploration.
The 499-sample program, which followed up on regional geochemistry results, has identified high-grade lithium anomalies at both Dundas North and Dundas South, bolstering the company’s resource development efforts in the lithium-rich region.
Prioritising lithium targets for future drilling
Infill sampling at Dundas North returned peak results of 147 parts per million (ppm) lithium, while Dundas South saw assays as high as 104ppm. Lightning’s targeted approach aims to further define these promising zones, enhancing its strategic exploration plans.
With the completion of the infill soil program, Lightning Minerals is now prioritising these defined lithium targets for future drilling, while also advancing its broader lithium portfolio, which includes significant projects in Brazil and Quebec. The company continues to position itself for growth as the lithium market rebounds.
Managing Director Alex Biggs highlighted the importance of maintaining expenditure commitments despite challenging market conditions, with the company focusing on cost-effective strategies during a period of subdued lithium sentiment.
“We are pleased to receive further positive lithium in soil anomalism at Dundas as we look at furthering our target generation strategies,” he said. “We continue our target generation work in Brazil in preparation of a more positive lithium market, at which point we will have multiple targets ready for execution.”
Further defining Dundas North and South targets
The Dundas project has already proven promising, with initial regional soil sampling identifying significant lithium anomalism across a 35km² area. Lightning Minerals’ recent infill sampling has narrowed down the targets even further, focusing on areas with the highest lithium concentrations.
At Dundas North, the infill samples returned peak lithium readings of 147ppm, continuing to validate the potential of the region. Phase 1 soil sampling was completed in 2023, with samples collected on a 400m x 400m grid across the tenements, with infill sampling conducted with more precise grid spacing of 200m x 100m.

At Dundas South, additional infill soil sampling followed up on previously identified zones of interest. These results also demonstrate solid potential, with assays showing peak values of 104ppm lithium.

Lightning’s targeted work has continued to focus on the lithium and associated pathfinder elements typical for lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) pegmatites.
Cost-effective exploration despite challenging lithium sentiment
The completion of the infill sampling program was in line with Lightning Minerals' commitment to meet expenditure targets, despite the current bearish sentiment surrounding the lithium market. Lightning is also making progress in its Brazilian projects, which could provide additional upside as the lithium market rebounds.
In addition to the Dundas project, Lightning Minerals is advancing its lithium exploration efforts across several international projects. Its recently completed acquisition of the Caraíbas, Canabrava, and Esperança lithium projects in Minas Gerais, Brazil, is expected to significantly enhance its position in the global lithium sector. Lightning also holds projects in Quebec, Canada, including Dalmas and Hiver, which are prospective for both lithium and other critical minerals.
With the latest infill soil sampling results strengthening the Dundas lithium targets, Lightning Minerals will look to capitalise on future market improvements, while continuing to explore and develop its growing portfolio of high-potential projects.
