Nvidia backs UK AI drive as France gains ground

Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ:NVDA, ETR:NVD) has announced a series of UK partnerships aimed at strengthening the country's artificial intelligence capabilities, amid rising concern that Britain is lagging behind global rivals, The Times reported.

The US tech group, valued at over $3.5 trillion, said it will work with the UK government to help businesses adopt AI and plans to support the training of 100,000 people by 2030.

It has also signed agreements with the Financial Conduct Authority to promote safe experimentation and with Barclays PLC (LSE:BARC) and Microsoft to develop AI-focused workspaces for 150 tech firms in London.

The announcement coincided with the start of London Tech Week, where Nvidia chief Jensen Huang is a keynote speaker. Meanwhile, Dutch cloud provider Nebius is set to invest £200 million in a new AI data centre outside London using 4,000 Nvidia chips.

France, however, is gaining momentum in AI, helped by tax incentives, nuclear energy infrastructure and homegrown firms like Mistral.
