Rome Resources Plc (AIM:RMR) told investors it has discovered a new tin zone on the eastern flank of Mont Agoma at its Bisie North project, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Significantly, it opens up the prospect of mining beyond the boundary of the project’s prior footprint.
“This is exactly the kind of upside we hoped to unlock with this new phase of drilling,” chief executive Paul Barrett said in a statement.
Rome announced that drill hole ‘MADD030’ intersected a 40-metre tin-bearing interval in shallow weathered rock. Initial analysis confirmed elevated tin content, and detailed assay results are now pending.
The newly identified zone is located outside the current mineralised footprint and geochemical anomaly, suggesting it may be a separate tin system or a fault repetition of known mineralisation.
Since mid-May, four drill holes have been completed, totalling 737 metres, Rome noted. All four have encountered visual mineralisation of tin, copper and zinc.
“With three rigs turning, work in relation to our maiden mineral resource estimate underway and work due to start soon on the metallurgy of the deposit, Rome is building serious momentum on both the exploration and development fronts,” Barrett added.
“We will continue sharing further updates in relation to drilling progress as well as assay results as they become available."
