Digitalbox PLC (AIM:DBOX) has completed the purchase of The Life Network’s digital assets from Media Chain Group, adding millions of social media followers to its growing portfolio of online brands.
The mobile-focused media group, which runs entertainment sites such as The Daily Mash, The Tab and Entertainment Daily, said on Monday it had paid £200,000 for the assets. This included a £20,000 licence fee handed over in March and a further £180,000 on completion.
The deal transfers ownership of The Life Network’s Facebook and Instagram accounts to Digitalbox, taking the company’s combined social media audience to more than 26 million followers.
The company said the assets would support the growth of Royal Insider, one of its newer digital titles focused on coverage of the British royal family.
The move follows a period of testing in which content from The Life Network was trialled on Royal Insider, producing what Digitalbox described as encouraging trading performance.
Digitalbox said it expects the acquisition to be earnings-enhancing in the current financial year.
It has continued to focus on expanding its reach across social and mobile channels, aiming to capture a share of digital advertising revenue through short-form and lifestyle content. The company said its wider portfolio had also performed well in the first half of 2025.
