Valereum prepares to showcase new tokenised trading platform

Valereum PLC (AQSE:VLRM) said on Monday it is ready to demonstrate its long-awaited digital trading system, a key milestone in the company’s effort to streamline how financial markets operate using blockchain-style technology.

It has spent more than five years developing the platform, called The Bridge, in collaboration with Securities & Trading Technology, a financial software provider.

After what it described as a multi-million pound investment, Valereum said the system, formally known as The Bridge V1 DFMI, is now “demo ready”.

The platform is designed to integrate the full lifecycle of digital financial instruments, from issuance and trading to settlement and custody.

One of its central features is so-called “T-Instant” settlement, which allows for trades to be completed immediately.

This contrasts with traditional systems where transactions often take two or more days to settle, tying up capital and introducing counterparty risk.

Valereum said the new platform reduces the need for intermediaries like clearing houses, which are normally used to guarantee trades. By relying on pre-funded accounts, The Bridge aims to remove risks linked to credit exposure and failed settlements.

The company described the technology as a “comprehensive and secure” solution that could improve efficiency and lower costs across capital markets.

The demo will allow Valereum to engage with financial institutions, potential partners and digital asset firms to explore commercial licensing deals.

Valereum said The Bridge was built to tackle long-standing inefficiencies in financial infrastructure, including high transaction costs and the operational drag of delayed settlements.

The company said it plans to position the platform as a foundation for innovation in the growing market for tokenised assets, digital representations of financial instruments such as bonds or equities, recorded on a secure ledger.

Chief technology officer Daryl McFarlane said: "From the initial concept to this milestone, the team have dedicated countless hours of passion and hard work to bring this turn-key solution to life.

"Reaching the Bridge V1 Demo phase is a huge step forward in our mission to revolutionise the way financial markets operate."
