Far East Gold Ltd CEO Shane Menere talked with Proactive about the start of drilling at the Bermol Prospect, part of the Idenburg Gold Project in Papua, Indonesia. The company has successfully mobilised two diamond rigs to the site, marking what Menere described as “a huge step forward for Far East Gold.”
Menere highlighted that this drilling campaign opens the potential to grow the project's current JORC resource of 540,000 ounces into something "significantly bigger". The campaign covers four prospect areas, three of which have been previously drilled, with one remaining untested. The company is targeting an exploration outcome aligned with its previously stated target of 7.2 million ounces at 6.1g/t.
Menere noted that Idenburg has become Far East Gold’s flagship project due to its scale and strategic location. It is situated in the easternmost part of Indonesia and in close geological proximity to world-class mines.
In addition to Idenburg, Menere provided updates on other exploration fronts including the Woyla prospect in northwest Indonesia, a porphyry copper-gold target at the Trenggalek Project in Java, and a Queensland-based porphyry system in Australia.
