Midnight Sun Mining begins drilling at Kazhiba copper target

Midnight Sun Mining Corp (TSX-V:MMA, OTCQB:MDNGF) has started diamond drilling at the Kazhiba Target 2 sulphide copper prospect on its Solwezi project in Zambia.

The program includes six to eight diamond drill holes totaling nearly 1,000 metres, targeting a 4 km by 2 km copper anomaly.

The first drill hole is underway with a target depth of 150 metres, the company said in a statement.

“Kazhiba Target 2 represents an exciting opportunity to reach a major new milestone for Midnight Sun,” said CEO Al Fabbro. “By utilizing a phased sequence of exploration methods, we have checked all the boxes to prepare for this initial drill program.”

The target area was selected based on overlapping copper anomalies identified through Partial Ionic Leach testing, a strong VTEM geophysical anomaly, and induced polarization results indicating high chargeability and low resistivity, which are characteristics consistent with deposits in the Zambian Copperbelt, the company said.

Midnight Sun also reported that geochemical sampling at its nearby Mitu prospect has been completed.

Shares of Midnight Sun added around 3.3% on Thursday morning in Toronto at C$0.62.
