Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) reported a significant surge in US vehicle sales for May 2025, up 16.3% year-over-year with 221,000 units sold, driven by robust demand for pickup trucks and crossover SUVs.
Sales were led by the Ford F-Series, with almost 80,000 units sold in May, up 15% compared to the same month in 2024.
SUV sales topped 83,000 units, a notable increase from about 67,000 units the previous year.
Truck sales overall climbed to about 121,000 units, up from about 109,000 in May 2024.
Another bright spot in Ford’s May sales report was hybrid vehicles. Sales of hybrid models grew by 28.9%, totaling about 23,000 units.
However, Ford’s EV deliveries fell by 25% year-over-year, dropping below 7,000 units.
By brand, Ford accounted for the vast majority of sales, just shy of 210,000 vehicles, while its luxury division Lincoln sold about 11,500 units in May 2025.
Shares of Ford traded higher on the update, up 1.8% at about $10.
