International Graphite wraps FEED study for Collie graphite micronising facility

Development is proceeding apace at International Graphite Ltd’s planned Collie Graphite Micronising Facility in WA, with the release of a Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) study for the flagship project in March 2025.

Potential to double capacity

The study outlined an estimated capital cost of A$6.3 million to reach mechanical completion for a facility with an annual production capacity of around 4,000 tonnes.

The study also pointed to the potential to double capacity for an additional A$1.7 million.

The company has tapped Bunbury-based contractor Prosser Built to conduct the detailed design of the facility and is expected to commence construction once the design work is complete and regulatory approvals are in.

The company has also executed a key equipment supply contract, with engineering drawings already in progress to support the local design process.

The development is backed by a A$4.5 million grant from the Western Australian Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation and this funding will be released progressively as construction milestones are met.

Graphite processing continues

In parallel, the company continues to operate its adjacent Graphite Processing and Research and Development Facility on a batch basis, producing material for customer qualification.

To date, 1,216 kilograms of graphite concentrates have been processed, and graphite products sized from 15 micrometres to 45 micrometres (D90) have been manufactured and sold.

The plant has achieved ISO9001:2015 certification, and more than 50 local businesses have contributed to the development, supporting Collie’s broader economic transition strategy.
