Orthocell Ltd (ASX:OCC, OTC:ORHHF) CEO and managing director Paul Anderson has been named a national finalist in the 2025 EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Australia awards, selected among leaders of innovative companies across Australia’s business sector.
Anderson is a finalist in the Technology category, joining a diverse group of business leaders who have demonstrated outstanding innovation, resilience and growth. The EY program, now celebrating 25 years in Australia, acknowledges entrepreneurs who are driving industries forward while contributing to economic and social prosperity.
“This year’s national finalists have demonstrated remarkable innovation and resilience, and we’re proud to recognise their achievements,” said Colin McNeil, Australia program leader for the awards. “Representing a true cross-section of the Australian business ecosystem, they are the driving force behind the country’s economic growth and future prosperity.”
Orthocell’s growth journey under Anderson
A healthcare entrepreneur with more than two decades of experience in medical devices and cellular therapeutics, Anderson co-founded Orthocell in 2006. His background as an orthopaedic nurse and his commercial experience in human cell therapies have helped him bridge the gap between research and clinical practice, guiding Orthocell through product development, regulatory approvals, and global market expansion.
Orthocell’s lead product is Remplir™, a collagen-based nerve repair device that helps surgeons reconnect severed or damaged peripheral nerves. The technology is designed to improve clinical outcomes for patients recovering from nerve injuries, including those affecting hands, arms and facial nerves.
Expanding global markets for Remplir™
Orthocell has made significant commercial progress with Remplir™ over the past 18 months. In May, the company achieved a major milestone in its US commercialization push by securing 12 distributors for Remplir™, with its US distribution network now spanning 21 states. Remplir™ is currently approved in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, the US, Thailand, Canada and Hong Kong. The company will next pursue Remplir approvals for the EU, the UK and Brazil.
In parallel, Orthocell continues to generate revenue from Striate+™, its dental regenerative membrane used in dental implant and bone grafting procedures. Striate+™ sales have grown steadily as the company builds its global distribution network across Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the US, the EU, the UK, Singapore and Brazil. .
It also has a third revenue-generating line, tendon repair product SmrtGraft, awaiting Therapeutic Goods Administration approval in Australia shortly.
In April, Orthocell reported $2.22 million in revenue for the March 2025 quarter, marking its fourth consecutive quarter of growth and a 38% increase over the March 2024 quarter. Its quarterly revenue has now grown by an average of 8% compounded over the last 10 quarters, since the November 2022 lanches of Striate+™ in the US and Remplir™ in Australia.
Global competition awaits
The EY Entrepreneur Of The Year awards will culminate in a gala event in Sydney on October 15, where national winners will be announced. Those winners will then represent Australia at the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year competition, competing with leading entrepreneurs from over 60 countries.
“Celebrating 25 years of the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year program is a testament to the incredible entrepreneurial spirit we have in Australia and demonstrates EY Australia's unwavering commitment to support entrepreneurs over the last quarter century,” McNeil said.
Anderson’s recognition as an EY national finalist comes as Orthocell enters what could be a pivotal period of commercial expansion, supported by multiple revenue streams, an expanding global footprint and ongoing clinical trials to support broader adoption of its regenerative technologies.
