Faron shares climb again as leukaemia data builds investor confidence

It seems it took a while for the news to sink in. But a day after releasing some really interesting data insights on its key asset, Faron Pharmaceuticals Limited (AIM:FARN) shares are finally on the march.

Mid-afternoon on Wednesday, there were up 9.4% at 249.39p, valuing the business at just shy of £280 million.

The wake-up call comes more than 24 hours after the release of encouraging preclinical data for its lead cancer drug, bexmarilimab.

The study, published in Scientific Reports, explored how bexmarilimab could improve outcomes for patients with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), two aggressive blood cancers with limited treatment options.

Early findings suggest that combining bexmarilimab with existing therapies, including azacitidine and venetoclax, can deliver a more powerful immune response and help overcome resistance in some cases.

Bexmarilimab works by blocking CLEVER-1, a protein found on both tumour cells and immune-suppressing macrophages.

This action appears to reawaken immune defences and heighten the effects of standard treatments.

In laboratory tests using bone marrow from patients, the drug reduced the viability of cancer cells, especially those resistant to venetoclax.

With phase II clinical trial results due soon, investor interest in Faron has picked up.

The share price rebound reflects hopes that bexmarilimab could become part of a new standard of care for blood cancers. If clinical results mirror lab findings, the stock could continue to attract attention.
