Softcat PLC (LSE:SCT) had investors purring with a short but sweet quarterly trading update where the technology reseller nudged its full-year guidance upwards.
The Marlow, Bucks-based group said it now expects "low-teens" growth of operating profit for the full year, up from its previous outlook of "low double-digit" growth.
In the third quarter of its financial year, the three months ended 30 April 2025, the group saw "strong double-digit year-on-year growth in gross profit and operating profit".
It said growth remained broad-based across technology areas and customer segments, supported by the conversion of some larger solutions projects.
Analysts at Shore Capital said FactSet consensus was already looking for 12% operating profit growth, "so the quantum of the upgrade is relatively small (circa 1-2%), but a very welcome upgrade nevertheless".
They noted that the company is capitalising on growth opportunities across both the public and commercial sectors, driven by increasing demand for IT infrastructure, cloud solutions, and digital transformation services.
Softcat shares, up 4% to 1,855p this morning, have outperformed the FTSE All Share by 18% and 6% over the past three and six months, respectively, they added.
