Kingfisher PLC (LSE:KGF) reported a revenue resurgence in the first quarter of its financial year, as the B&Q and Screwfix owner benefited from strong seasonal sales that were helped by good weather.
Sales came in at £3.3 billion, a 1.6% increase on the previous year, or a 2.2% rise on a constant currency basis, for the three months ended 30 April 2025.
Underlying sales growth, excluding calendar impact, was 3.1%. Like-for-like sales increased by 1.8%, or 2.7% on an underlying basis.
City analysts had expected sales to fall 1.5%, with LFL sales declining 0.7%.
In the UK & Ireland, sales rose by 6.2%. B&Q delivered 7.9% LFL growth, supported by strong seasonal demand. Screwfix grew LFL sales by 2.9%.
E-commerce sales grew by 9.3%, representing 20% of total sales.
France remained a sore spot, with an LFL decline of 3.2%. Poland also fell 3.2% LFL due to what were called "geopolitical factors". Iberia delivered 8.9% LFL growth while Romania declined 0.9% LFL.
But chief executive Thierry Garnier said the group made market share gains "in all key regions and further progress in our strategic priorities".
The company reiterated its full-year guidance, expecting adjusted profit before tax of approximately £480 million to £540 million.
