Dynamic Metals Ltd (ASX:DYM)has set the drills turning at the Cognac West gold prospect, part of the company’s flagship Widgiemooltha Project in Western Australia, as it ramps up broader efforts to define a gold resource at the 800-square-kilometre play.
Next phase begins
“We are excited to advance to the next phase of drilling at Cognac West, managing director Karen Wellman said.
“The results from our initial program provided strong encouragement and have helped us refine our geological model.
“With the new drill program now underway, we look forward to further testing the mineralised trends and expanding our understanding of this highly prospective area.”
The Phase 2 reverse circulation (RC) campaign will drill 19 holes in the area as part of a follow-up on promising intersections from Phase 1, which was conducted in March.
Drilling is anticipated to take two weeks with assays expected early July 2025.
Dynamic intends to test the extensions of the following encouraging gold mineralisation uncovered in March:
- 8 metres @ 2.87g/t gold including 4 metres @ 5.37g/t gold from 60 metres;
- 44 metres @ 0.33g/t gold including 4 metres @ 1.21g/t gold from 36 metres;
- 4 metres @ 0.52g/t gold from 44 metres; and
- 24 metres @ 0.33g/t gold from 48 metres.
Priority targets
The new campaign will test priority targets across Anomalies A and B.
Drilling is expected to take two weeks, with assay results anticipated by early July 2025.
Cognac West is a structurally complex target located near the Republican Thrust, with gold mineralisation interpreted along second-order structures and a late felsic intrusion.
Historical data included a standout intersection of 1 metre at 91.3 g/t gold from 41 metres in JSA0252.
Recent soil and rock chip sampling at the site produced peak gold values up to 2,040 g/t.
At Anomaly A, drilling will focus on a quartz vein system where prior surface sampling returned high-grade results.
At Anomaly B, the focus will be on extending a 100 metre-wide east-west zone of gold anomalism, with drilling planned to assist a better understanding of the structural controls and potential strike extensions.
The company expects the broader program to expand to as many as 75 RC holes across multiple stages.
