Salesforce Inc (NYSE:CRM, ETR:FOO) announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Informatica (NYSE:INFA), a leader in cloud data management, in an $8 billion all-cash deal aimed at accelerating its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.
The company will pay $25 per share for Informatica, significantly below the mid-$30s per share price previously discussed in April.
Salesforce highlighted that the acquisition will strengthen its AI infrastructure by integrating Informatica’s data management tools, which help businesses organize and prepare data from multiple sources.
Salesforce already partners with Informatica to market its products. The acquisition would bring those capabilities fully in-house.
“Together, Salesforce and Informatica will create the most complete, agent-ready data platform in the industry,” Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff said in a statement.
“By uniting the power of Data Cloud, MuleSoft, and Tableau with Informatica’s industry-leading, advanced data management capabilities, we will enable autonomous agents to deliver smarter, safer, and more scalable outcomes for every company, and significantly strengthen our position in the $150 billion-plus enterprise data market.”
The transaction is expected to close early in Salesforce’s fiscal year 2027 and will be financed through a mix of cash and new debt.
Shares of Informatica added 5.7% at about $23 on the announcement, while Salesforce stock edged 0.2% higher to $273.
