Ocean Power Technologies Inc (NYSE-A:OPTT) announced that it has been named one of the initial certified operators under the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) Trusted Uncrewed Maritime Systems (UMS) Operator Program.
The certification program, developed by AUVSI in partnership with industry stakeholders, sets a standardized benchmark for training, proficiency, and safety in the operation of uncrewed maritime systems.
The designation is intended to help identify operators who meet established performance and accountability standards in the UMS field.
OPT highlighted that its certification under the program reflects its activities in autonomous maritime operations, encompassing its buoy systems and autonomous surface vehicle technologies.
According to the company, the designation supports its emphasis on maintaining quality and safety in the delivery of maritime power, data, and service solutions.
“Being recognized by AUVSI as a Trusted UMS Operator underscores our dedication to safety, operational rigor, and workforce training as we deploy uncrewed technologies in demanding maritime environments,” OPT CEO Philipp Stratmann said.
“This certification reinforces the confidence our customers have in OPT as a reliable partner for persistent maritime domain awareness and mission-critical operations.”
Shares of OPT gained 5% in New York Tuesday.
