Whitbread chairman Adam Crozier steps down

Whitbread PLC (LSE:WTB) chairman Adam Crozier, a well-known figure in not just the City but around the UK from former roles as boss of ITV, Royal Mail and the Football Association, is stepping down from the hotel company after seven years in the role.

Crozier will retire from the board on 1 September, the Premier Inn parent company said in a statement, having joined in 2017 and overseen the sale of its Costa Coffee chain for £3.9 billion to become wholly focused on its budget hotels and gastropubs.

Richard Gillingwater, senior independent director, said Crozier had been instrumental in "steering the company through a period of significant change to create sustainable value for shareholders".

Hodgson was executive chair of technology consultancy Capgemini UK from 2011 to 2020 and senior independent director of Standard Chartered until 2023, with her current roles including chair of consultancy Newton.

Gillingwater, who led the selection process, said: "We have conducted a thorough process, and it was evident that Christine will be an outstanding successor to Adam. Christine's experience working with high-profile consumer and technology businesses will be hugely valuable over the coming years."
