Standard Uranium Ltd (TSX-V:STND, OTCQB:STTDF) revealed multiple near-surface uranium showings at its Corvo Uranium Project in Saskatchewan, where it is about to kick off its inaugural drilling campaign.
The junior resource company has been compiling legacy data and conducting modern geophysical surveys to advance target development at the basement-hosted uranium prospect under a three-year earn-in option agreement with Aventis Energy.
Recent exploration has confirmed a strike length of 800 metres with multiple intervals of uranium mineralization encountered in historical drilling, including 0.116% U₃O₈ over 1.05 metres and 0.065% U₃O₈ over 0.15 metres.
Historical surface exploration from a few decades ago identified several high-grade uranium showings in graphitic metasedimentary rocks such as the Manhattan showing, which returned grades ranging from 1.19% to 5.98% U₃O₈, and the SMDI 2052 showing, which recorded 0.137% U₃O₈ and 2,300 parts per million thorium.
An airborne Time-Domain Electromagnetic (TDEM) survey completed earlier this year has also helped delineate more than 25 kilometres of conductive strike length favorable for uranium mineralization.
“The Corvo Project is highly prospective for shallow basement-hosted uranium mineralization and is largely underexplored,” said Sean Hillacre, Standard Uranium’s president and vice president exploration. “We expect the results [of TDEM modeling] to identify a significant number of high-priority drill targets for follow-up in 2025.”
Standard Uranium said it plans to conduct additional geophysical surveys next year to further define drill targets. A mapping, prospecting, and sampling program is also in the works to validate historical uranium showings at surface.
